The 2020 SKJ Enneagram Gift Guide!

Written by Enneagram Hobbyist Julia Bakker-Arkema, images and editing by Sophie Kissin.

I have to admit, I’m not into horoscopes. But I can get behind the enneagram because it, to me, is less deterministic; you have agency and flexibility in choosing your type. So when my friends got into it, I learned a bit too. By no means am I an expert, nor would I even call myself an enthusiast (that’s why I called on guest contributor, Julia Bakker-Arkema!), but I thought this would be a fun why to play with my jewelry, give me an excuse to look at all the qualities each unique piece possesses and the meaning(s) a piece may hold for the wearer.

We had fun compiling this jewelry gift guide for every enneagram type in your life! May this guide spark gift-giving inspiration and as much joy as it did for us while creating it!

type 1 REFORmer gift ideas Sophie Kissin Jewelry.png

Ones move through the world with purpose. They are orderly, noble, and idealistic. The stitch ring, slash hoops, and simple poke pin all embody integrity and control, two important values for reformer-types.

type 2 the helper gift ideas_Sophie Kissin Jewelry.png

Helpers will love the nazar studs, fruit necklace, or garden gourd studs, symbols of plenty. Giving and expressive, twos manifest generosity, warmth, and tenderness in their relationships.

type 3.png

Achievers are driven, success-oriented role models. We chose the crux cuff, eureka pin, and double leaf poke pin for type threes— pieces that showcase their poise and ambition. (Or you could let the three in your life really show off their style and choose their own piece with the SKJ gift card!)

type 4 the individualist gift ideas_Sophie Kissin Jewelry.png

From the highest highs to the lowest lows, fours feel it all. We chose unique, moody, expressive statement pieces that will resonate with the individualist’s emotional sensitivity, like the dreamy, ethereal Sirena Collection, the painterly expression of the gongshi choker, or the mismatched unikko stem earrings. (Fun fact; artist Ellie Schmidt, Sirena Collection collaborator, is a four!)

type 5 investigator gift ideas_Sophie Kissin Jewelry.png

Investigators are self-sufficient and curious. They pursue knowledge about the world around them with a deep, quiet intensity that is reflected in the understated but imaginative shapes of the mounds necklace and prehnite squiggle hair stick. Fives will also love the practicality of the gerald/geraldine bolo tie.

type 6.png

Type sixes face their surroundings with caution, so the shield studs are a perfect accessory. They will also fiercely defend their relationships, ideas, and beliefs, staying loyal to the tenets of their core selves and displaying a beautiful steadfastness echoed by the nouille hair comb and quatrefoil ear cuffs. (Sophie is a type six!)

type 7 enthusiast gift ideas_Sophie Kissin Jewelry.png

Sevens will love the playfulness and excitement of the abundance earrings, wave barrette, and the double unikko necklace. They are drawn to variety; they have a zest for life, constantly seeking joy and exhilaration and always ready to catch the next wave.

type 8 challenger gift ideas_Sophie Kissin Jewelry.png

Shapes that are bold and powerful (like those of the geometric cartilage hoops) will appeal to the challenger, who displays a confident strength and tenacity. The Crux Collection in particular demonstrates this fierceness, which is at the type eight’s core. Tigereye stones in the bold tigereye hoops promote clarity, emulating the eight’s decisiveness and self-confidence.

type 9 peacemaker gift ideas_Sophie Kissin Jewelry.png

Nines seek balance and cohesion, so they will appreciate gifts that convey this sense of harmony, like the large organic hoops and the silver + gold ring. Peacemakers are also in tune with the natural world, gracefully reflected in the calm energy of the double leaf ear climber. (Julia Bakker-Arkema, the enneagram enthusiast guest contributor who wrote this, is a nine!)
